AEW Feud Update: Swerve Strickland vs. Keith Lee Future Insights
Despite their scheduled match being canceled at AEW Worlds End, the verbal sparring between Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee continues without interruption.
Following AEW Worlds End, where Swerve Strickland appeared to ‘injure’ Dustin Rhodes in their relatively short yet violent match, he conveyed a message to his intended opponent.
In a late change made to the card several hours before showtime, Keith Lee was pulled from action, citing being ‘medically uncleared’ to compete. Rhodes stepped in as the substitute.
In a backstage clip, Swerve expressed his refusal to have his ‘time wasted’ waiting for a match against Keith Lee. He mocked Lee’s injury and pointed out that Lee failed to board his flight despite Swerve’s suggestion to fight him in Long Island.
Despite Swerve declaring his pursuit of the AEW World Championship, Keith Lee responded on Twitter, emphasizing that he was present but was pulled by ‘Doc.’
Lee’s tweet in response to the clip posted by AEW reads:
“1 leg… 2 legs … irrelevant. Ask Cage. I was there. You saw me. Just because Doc pulled me does not make you safe.
“You may be chosen…. but I’m real. Wherever the next meeting happens, I swear to God you will regret every syllable.
“… That’s a promise little homie.”
While Swerve Strickland seems to believe his feud with Keith Lee is done, the same sentiment doesn’t seem to be true for Lee.
If Swerve Strickland hopes to become the AEW World Champion in 2024, he may find his path leading directly through Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe secured a victory over MJF in the main event of AEW Worlds End, capturing the AEW World Championship.
