NWA’s Prosperity Hinges on Me: Asserts Former WWE Star Matt Cardona

In a recent social media post, former WWE star Matt Cardona asserted that the key to the prosperity of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) lies in him becoming the face of the company.

A prominent figure on the independent wrestling scene, Cardona secured the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in 2022. Unfortunately, he had to relinquish the title in June 2022 due to an injury.

Setting the stage for his return, Cardona is slated to face EC3 for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in the Ultimate Match of Death at NWA Paranoia on January 13.

In a preview of the upcoming match posted on January 10, Cardona reiterated his claim to being the real Worlds Champion and emphasized the significance of the title bout. He stated, “I never lost, and this is my chance to finally get it back in a Deathmatch, and I’m the Deathmatch King. EC3 calls himself the Overman, well, I’m the Indy God, and I need to walk out as champ. Not just for me.”

Highlighting why his victory is crucial for the thriving of NWA, Cardona expressed, “Of course, I want to be a two-time champ. But for Billy, for everybody in the back, for all the fans, and also EC3, for you. I need to beat you for you because quite frankly you need a place to work.”

“The only way that is going to happen is if I’m the face of the company,” Cardona asserted.

Acknowledging EC3’s achievements as champion, Cardona maintained that it was now time for the “real Overman” to take over. He underlined his commitment to doing whatever it takes for NWA to not only survive but thrive.

Addressing EC3 directly, Cardona praised his opponent’s evolution but made it clear that he was ready to reclaim his throne as the Deathmatch King. He concluded, “This Saturday, I don’t care what weapons you bring. It doesn’t matter what you bring, bro. I’m the Deathmatch King. I beat Nick Gage. I beat the former king of the Deathmatch. There is no way I’m losing my throne and losing my crown to you, pal.”
