SmackDown Safety Concerns Prompt WWE Update
An incident during tonight’s SmackDown prompted a pause in the match involving WWE stars Carmelo Hayes and Austin Theory due to safety concerns.
Carmelo Hayes from NXT made an unexpected appearance on SmackDown, initially engaging in a backstage segment where he sought a spot in the Royal Rumble from Nick Aldis.
However, when old rival Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, his close friend, entered the scene, Aldis arranged a match between Hayes and Theory.
The match did not conclude with a decisive winner as the referee halted proceedings following a significant move.
After both competitors descended from the ropes and landed in seemingly precarious positions, the referee promptly decided to stop the match.
In a recent update from WWE, it has been confirmed that both wrestlers have undergone evaluation and are confirmed to be safe.
WWE’s official statement on Twitter reads:
“UPDATE: Following their match tonight on #SmackDown, @_Theory1 and @Carmelo_WWE were evaluated for injuries. They both suffered face contusions, and will both be okay.”
