WWE Speed Matches and NXT Graduates Shine on SmackDown

During tonight’s WWE SmackDown taping, fans were treated to a glimpse of what’s to come on the newly announced show, WWE Speed. This innovative series, set to feature short matches tailor-made for social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has been generating buzz since its announcement.

In anticipation of tonight’s SmackDown event, WWE Speed matches took center stage. Cedric Alexander faced off against Dragon Lee in a thrilling encounter, followed by Cameron Grimes locking horns with Odyssey Jones in another high-octane matchup.

Although these matches were taped before tonight’s February 16 SmackDown, the airdate for WWE Speed remains a mystery, with only a vague confirmation of its debut sometime in the spring.

While WWE had previously taped Speed matches weeks ago, it’s unclear whether they will make it to the final show or if they were merely trial runs for the concept.

Amidst the excitement of the Speed matches, SmackDown also saw recent NXT graduates making waves. Tiffany Stratton secured a victory in her Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Zelina Vega, thanks in part to some ringside chaos involving LWO and Legado del Fantasma.

Additionally, NXT Tag Team Champion Bron Breakker made his presence felt as negotiations seemingly continue with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and Raw GM Adam Pearce. Meanwhile, a newly reunited NXT UK team unveiled a fresh team name, signaling exciting developments on the blue brand.

Stay tuned for more updates on WWE Speed and the latest from SmackDown’s newest additions.
