In the latest edition of AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland achieved a significant victory by defeating a former WWE Champion. The episode featured ‘Dealer’s Choice’ matches, where Swerve and Hangman Adam Page selected opponents for each other. Page, however, kept his opponent’s identity a mystery, although numerous references to Rob Van Dam strongly hinted at his involvement.

As the match unfolded, it was revealed that Swerve would face RVD in a hardcore match, a decision made by Hangman Adam Page. Despite a fierce battle, Swerve Strickland emerged victorious, securing a pinfall over Rob Van Dam.

Post-match, Hangman Adam Page, who had triumphed over Swerve’s choice Toa Liona earlier in the night, entered the ring with a microphone. Samoa Joe observed from the commentary desk as Page declared that he would never allow Swerve to become the AEW World Champion, asserting that he himself would be the next champion.

The episode concluded with the announcement that the following week on AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page would engage in their third and, according to Swerve, final matchup. The winner would earn a crucial title shot, facing Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship at the upcoming pay-per-view, Revolution.
