Mercedes Mone Set to Make AEW Debut on March 13, 2024

Mercedes Mone, formerly known as WWE’s Sasha Banks, is on the brink of joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and is slated to make her much-anticipated debut on March 13, 2024.

The announcement of AEW Big Business by Tony Khan on the February 8 episode of Dynamite sparked speculations about Mone’s involvement, which have now been confirmed by recent reports from Fightful Select.

According to these reports, Mone has been under AEW’s payroll since early January, marking a significant shift from her previous negotiations with WWE, which reportedly fell through in late December 2023.

It appears that discussions between Mone and AEW faced similar challenges, but ultimately, AEW emerged as the chosen platform for her next chapter.

While there were considerations for an earlier announcement or debut, it was decided to unveil Mone’s arrival at the TD Garden on March 13, a venue with special significance as it is situated in her hometown of Boston.

Despite the excitement surrounding her debut, reports suggest that Mone was not deemed ready for in-ring action as far back as AEW Grand Slam in September 2023.

Sources from New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) have also verified her lack of readiness, stating that she had not resumed training following an injury sustained during a match with Willow Nightingale at NJPW Resurgence in 2023.

However, there is optimism about Mone’s future collaborations with NJPW, with discussions underway for potential opportunities. Despite setbacks, Mone remains determined, as evidenced by her statement on social media following the AEW announcement.
