Latest WWE Contract News: Drew McIntyre and CM Punk Update
With CM Punk suffering an actual injury during WWE Royal Rumble, Drew McIntyre was positioned as a possible opponent on his return.
This return according to Punk stated, will not be happening at WrestleMania 40, which is scheduled for April, as was revealed by the wrestler himself on the 29th of January Episode on WWE Raw.
In the beginning of the show last show WWE Raw, Drew McIntyre confessed that he had ‘prayed for his injury not to occur and was proud to have was able to ‘extort the demon’ out of his locker.
With the two expected to meet in the near future Dave Meltzer has shed light on a snag in the plans of Wrestling Observer Radio, saying:
“I think September is a decent time to return (for Punk). It was fascinating, and very interesting, as they created the huge aspect in the fight with Drew McIntyre tonight to be his opponent when he comes back, and Drew McIntyre’s contract has expired. contract until April. The situation has not changed. That really surprised me.”
There was a previous report that McIntyre hasn’t signed the new contract due to his current deal set to expire at WrestleMania.
It was initially planned to conclude at the beginning of 2024. However, the added time due to the absence of a few wrestlers this year extends it until just after WrestleMania in the early part of April.
In the story, it’s revealed it was noted that in Endeavor, WWE has been conducting negotiations on contracts according to the order they were scheduled to expire, but there was no specific mention of which specific place Drew McIntyre is on that list.
