Lexis King Former AEW Star Reflects on Receiving WWE Deal
Lexis King, a former AEW star turned NXT talent, recently shared the swift journey of securing a WWE deal after parting ways with All Elite Wrestling. Brian Pillman Jr. bid farewell to AEW in July 2023 as his contract concluded.
Even though Pillman Jr. didn’t make his debut on WWE NXT until October 2023, he wasted no time and was soon at the WWE Performance Center following his exit from AEW.
In a conversation with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Lexis King discussed the rapid developments with WWE, stating, “It wasn’t so much a decision as it was a necessary transition.”
Reflecting on his time at AEW, King acknowledged the success he achieved both professionally and financially. However, the uncertainty of the future led him to contemplate his position. “When they didn’t re-sign me, it was pretty apparent I wasn’t going to be doing anything there anymore,” King remarked.
Grateful for the agents and attorneys who initiated the conversation right after his contract ended, King highlighted the speed at which things progressed. “I think I got a paycheck from both companies in the same month. That’s how quickly the ball got rolling,” he revealed.
Lexis King, who recently competed in a match against Dragon Lee for the NXT North American Championship on the January 9 episode of WWE NXT, is currently entangled in a rivalry with Tre Bearhill, resulting in Bearhill’s removal from the NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament.
Additionally, King shared insights into the behind-the-scenes camaraderie, revealing the WWE star who connected him with their barber to maintain his signature look.
