SAMOA JOE DEFEATED BY HOOK FOR THE AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
In the headline main event of tonight’s AEW Dynamite, Samoa Joe defended his AEW World Championship against HOOK in a commercial-free clash.
In a thrilling showdown, the determined HOOK challenged Samoa Joe, fulfilling his prediction from last week’s Dynamite.
Despite HOOK’s courageous performance, he absorbed several powerful moves from Joe, seemingly putting him out of the running. However, a surprising twist occurred when HOOK kicked out of Joe’s signature Muscle Buster at the count of one, sparking a brief but triumphant resurgence against the champion.
For a fleeting moment, it appeared that HOOK might mount a comeback as he nearly trapped Joe in his Redrum submission hold. Yet, Joe demonstrated his skill by expertly reversing the hold, locking HOOK into his own Coquina Clutch finishing move.
The referee ultimately declared Samoa Joe the winner after HOOK failed to respond to his arm being raised three times, securing Joe’s championship retention.
Despite the defeat, HOOK displayed resilience by refusing to stay down, challenging Joe for more in not one but two post-match confrontations. The closing moments witnessed Hangman Adam Page making a timely run-in to save Joe from further onslaughts.
Notably, Swerve Strickland (accompanied by Prince Nana) also loomed in the background, setting the stage for potential future showdowns with Samoa Joe and Hangman Adam Page.
