Former WWE World Champion Batista, also known as Dave Bautista, recently addressed the shelved plans for his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023.

Fans have eagerly awaited Batista’s Hall of Fame speech since he was announced as part of the class of 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was postponed.

Prior to the rescheduled ceremony in March 2021, Batista revealed that he had to step back from the class due to scheduling conflicts with previous commitments.

In a conversation with Comicbook, Batista was questioned about what might come first for him: induction into the WWE Hall of Fame or involvement in James Gunn’s DC cinematic universe.

Batista disclosed that discussions about his Hall of Fame induction have been ongoing, disclosing that plans for him to join the class of 2023 were ultimately scrapped.

He elaborated, saying, “I couldn’t commit to that honestly. But based on our conversations over the years, it would likely be the WWE Hall of Fame. I was slated to join last year, but filming obligations in South Africa made it logistically impossible.”

Batista had earlier revealed in January 2023 that he was scheduled to film in South Africa for the sequel to his 2020 spy comedy film, “My Spy 2”.

Ultimately, the class of 2023 for the Hall of Fame was led by Rey Mysterio, a prominent figure in the WWE roster.

Regarding future plans, Batista mentioned that he hasn’t yet discussed any potential appearances in DC Studios productions with James Gunn.

Gunn, who directed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, in which Batista portrayed Drax, is now a key figure at DC Studios, overseeing the establishment of their reinvigorated cinematic universe.
