Set to clash for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania, the relationship between SKY and Bayley hasn’t always been as strained as it appears now.

In a nostalgic gesture, Bayley shared a message dating back to March 2022, back when SKY was known as Io Shirai. In the exchanged texts, Bayley initiates contact through iMessage, expressing her interest in a collaborative idea involving SKY, sourced through Dakota Kai.

The message thread reveals Bayley’s enthusiasm as she proposes her idea, to which SKY responds positively, indicating her keen interest.

Although the content of the idea remains concealed due to a cut-off message, it’s evident that their interaction laid the foundation for future collaborations.

The narrative takes an interesting turn as Shirai transitions to the persona of IYO SKY, joining forces with Dakota Kai and Bayley at SummerSlam in July 2022 under the banner of Damage CTRL.

Their journey as a collective entity continued with significant victories, notably at Clash at the Castle in September 2022, where Damage CTRL emerged triumphant against formidable opponents.

The group’s dynamics shifted with the inclusion of Asuka in November 2023 on WWE SmackDown, reuniting her with Kairi Sane, who had earlier returned to WWE and aligned with the group.
