Tony Khan has revealed that an ex-WWE Champion approached him to ask him to join AEW after they left WWE.

AEW has proved to be a favorite spot for ex WWE celebrities since it’s launch during the year the year.

Though there has been plenty of criticism aimed at Khan by a few fans, it appears that it’s not always the AEW President who is seeking out those who are employed by WWE instead, they are contacting him about joining.

According to Khan in his conversation with Going Ringside, this was the case with superstar who is rated R Adam Copeland, who joined AEW at the Wrestle Dream pay-per-view in October one day after Edge’s contract WWE WWE had ended.

Khan explained how Copeland’s hiring occurred and how he feels having a Hall of Famer within the company:

“I believe that the reason I think this was the best time to do it was because we saw a pay-per-view on October 1st and it was just when Adam Copeland’s contract ended.

“He approached me and, more importantly, for me, and the timing made sense to get Adam Copeland come into AEW.

“He’s an one of the top wrestling stars around the globe. I think Adam Copeland is somebody who has the highest quality of matches, and attracts fans from all across the globe to AEW It’s an honour to have Adam Copeland in AEW.

“The Rated R Superstar’ has revived his rivalry as well as his long-standing relationship together with Christian Cage, the Patriarch of AEW as well as who is the TNT champion, and with these two wrestlers as part of AEW is truly extraordinary.”

While Copeland has a plethora of honors during his time in WWE Copeland recently clinched his first title outside of the WWE by winning the TNT Championship from Christian Cage at AEW Worlds Ended in December.

But, it was, of course, a short-lived event because Cage was crowned champion immediately following using Killswitch’s (Luchasaurus) top contestant contract that he had gotten the previous night.

Despite the defeat, Copeland bounced back on this week’s Collision (January 6) winning against Griff Garrison.
