Booker T Declares WWE's MVP 2023 Altered the Game by Changing Names

Despite the official discontinuation of the Slammys in WWE, Booker T, a WWE Hall of Famer, has taken it upon himself to bestow a symbolic award to the wrestler he deems the top performer of the organization in the current year. On the latest episode of the “The Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T presented this recognition to Dominik Mysterio, the reigning “WWE NXT” North American Champion at The Judgment Day.

In Booker’s words, “I firmly believe that if you were to line up five guys in WWE for the MVP of the year, Dom would be one of those names. In the end, Dominik would emerge as the undisputed MVP of 2023.” Booker commended Mysterio for transforming the game and exemplifying true performance both inside and outside the ring. He emphasized Mysterio’s unique style, praising his ability to execute the unconventional flawlessly. Booker, who shares his insights with students at Reality of Wrestling, highlighted Mysterio’s consistency in doing things right, even if not following traditional paths.

Booker T’s acknowledgment aligns with sentiments expressed by another WWE Hall of Famer, Shawn Michaels, who currently serves as WWE’s Senior Vice-President for Talent Development Creative. Michaels recently lauded Mysterio for his outstanding performance in the current year, labeling him as the hardest-working individual in the show business. Mysterio’s impressive track record includes participating in 100 matches so far in 2023, with only Cody Rhodes surpassing his match count for the year.
