The latest episode of WWE SmackDown, which aired on February 9th, hinted at a significant development regarding Drew McIntyre’s path to WrestleMania 40.

The show commenced with a display of unity among WWE management, led by Triple H, Adam Pearce, and Nick Aldis. Amidst this, there was a notable announcement regarding WrestleMania 40.

During a segment, Nick Aldis disclosed that Seth Rollins’ opponent for WrestleMania 40 would emerge from the Elimination Chamber match, slated for the premium live event of the same name.

Adam Pearce followed up with the revelation of six qualifying matches featuring some of WWE’s prominent stars, determining the participants of the Elimination Chamber match.

The action kicked off immediately with Drew McIntyre, alongside management, introducing himself with a new moniker (‘DM Hunk’) and basking in the success of his recent anti-CM Punk merchandise sales, without any profit sharing with Punk.

AJ Styles emerged as McIntyre’s opponent, with LA Knight adding commentary from the third chair, leading to a ringside scuffle between Knight and Styles. Despite the distraction caused by Knight, McIntyre secured the victory, earning the first spot in the Men’s Elimination Chamber.

Another qualifying match featured Sami Zayn facing Randy Orton, further shaping up the lineup for the Chamber.
