Marshall Von Erich Opens Up on the Challenges of Being a Von Erich Today

With the A24 production “The Iron Claw” reigniting fascination in the infamous Von Erich family, the current generation members of the Von Erich legacy are resolute in upholding their family’s name, ensuring it remains a beacon of legacy. Ross and Marshall Von Erich opened up to “Busted Open Radio” about the challenges they face in navigating the expectations tied to the renowned Von Erich name.

“Being a Von Erich comes with its difficulties; there’s a perception that you’re striving to surpass your family, but we’re simply playing the cards we’re dealt,” Marshall conveyed, acknowledging the substantial shadow cast by the Von Erich legacy. “Our aim is to make our father and family proud.”

The two wrestlers expressed gratitude for the support of their father, Kevin, in helping them find their footing. However, they admitted that the wrestling business posed formidable challenges for the third generation of stars.

“Wrestling has been a tough journey; it has a way of humbling you rapidly,” Ross asserted. “While people witness the high points in our careers, they may not see the less glamorous side, like scrubbing the dojo floors in Japan.” Ross conveyed that, despite the difficulties, both he and his brother persevered, overcoming moments of doubt about their commitment to wrestling.

The Von Erich brothers currently find themselves transitioning into free agency after the termination of their deal with MLW on May 1st. Notably, they held the MLW Tag Team Champions title for an impressive 438 days from 2019 to 2021. The brothers, along with their father Kevin, are set to make an appearance on “AEW Dynamite” on Wednesday, marking the event as the Von Erich family’s debut on AEW, particularly significant as it takes place in the family’s hometown of Dallas, TX.
