Mixed Emotions Surround WWE’s Collaboration with AJPW
There’s an update on the connection between WWE and All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) following their recent interpromotional match.
WWE NXT’s Charlie Dempsey made a notable appearance for AJPW on January 3, attempting to seize Katsuhiko Nakajima’s AJPW Triple Crown Championship, but fell short.
The sudden announcement of the original match sparked speculation about the future of the partnership between WWE and AJPW. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there is an ongoing agreement between the two organizations, despite mixed sentiments within AJPW about the collaboration.
When questioned about whether Charlie Dempsey’s appearance was a one-time occurrence or if WWE and AJPW have an established partnership, Meltzer stated:
“I was told it’s an ongoing thing. Although there’s certainly people in All Japan who have mixed feelings on it, but the president of All Japan and WWE (have) got a deal going on right now.”
