Trick Williams Addresses Parallels with WWE Legend Booker T in Exclusive Interview

Booker T has consistently shown his support for Trick Williams during his tenure on “WWE NXT,” contributing memorable adlibs to Williams’ entrance music. The comparisons between Williams and Booker T, acknowledged by both fans and Williams himself, are viewed as a flattering compliment.

Expressing his admiration for Booker T, Williams stated in an interview with “Under the Ring,” “Booker T, you know he is great, was great, so I am honored by that.” He emphasized their regular communication, sharing, “I talk to Booker all the time, we check in weekly. I might watch some film with him or just pick his brain or just talk business, and he’s definitely been a guy who’s been very helpful to me and my career.”

While being a two-time Hall of Famer, Booker T’s influence extends beyond mere guidance during “NXT” tapings. He has extended invitations to Williams to participate in his own show, Reality Of Wrestling, providing valuable opportunities for the former football player to grow and refine his skills as a performer. However, Williams is quick to clarify that Booker T encourages him to forge his own path.

“He’s adamant on me doing it myself though. He’s like, ‘Hey, don’t do it like I did it, I don’t want you to come up off my name. Go out there and get it yourself.’ That’s the way I want it,” Williams declared. Despite the mentorship, Williams is determined to maintain his individuality, expressing, “He’s been very helpful from a mentor standpoint, but I definitely want to still be Trick Williams and not remind people of Booker T, if that makes sense?”
