Reflecting on a potential wrestling comeback, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle shared his perspective on the subject, noting the recurrent returns of some of his peers.

After concluding his wrestling career with a retirement match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019 against Baron Corbin, Angle spoke candidly about his decision not to stage a comeback during an appearance at Steel City Con:

“When I made my WWE return in 2017, it felt like the right moment for me. Despite being inducted into the Hall of Fame, I knew I wasn’t the same wrestler I used to be. That realization prompted me to retire early, as I didn’t want fans to remember me as a diminished, aging wrestler.”

Angle emphasized his divergence from the trend of wrestlers like Ric Flair and the late Terry Funk, who repeatedly returned from retirement. He clarified that this approach doesn’t align with his philosophy:

“Some wrestlers, like Ric Flair and Terry Funk, keep coming back, with Funk having about 30 retirement matches when he was alive. But that’s not my plan. I won’t be doing that. I won’t step into the ring again unless it’s for cutting a promo.”

While confirming his ongoing contract with WWE, the Olympic Gold Medalist acknowledged his involvement in specific WWE events. He hinted at the possibility of being part of the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 40 this year but maintained his firm stance against returning to active competition.
