An official update has been issued regarding Kota Ibushi’s condition following the recent injuries he sustained during a match in AEW. The specifics of his injuries have now been disclosed.

Ibushi participated in the main event of the Pro Wrestling NOAH The New Year 2024 show on January 2, where he emerged victorious in singles action against Naomichi Marufuji.

After reports surfaced that Ibushi was hospitalized due to ankle injuries suffered in the match, the Japanese star took to Twitter, revealing his upcoming surgery plans.

Pro Wrestling NOAH has released a statement regarding Ibushi’s status, stating:

“After sustaining an injury during Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Ariake Arena event on January 2nd, Kota Ibushi has been diagnosed with a right tibiofibular ligament tear and a right ankle lateral ligament complex injury, following a more comprehensive examination than the initial diagnosis.

Ibushi is slated for another thorough examination of his left leg and will focus on treatment. We will keep you updated on his progress as more information becomes available.

Ibushi’s last appearance in AEW was on the November 15 edition of Dynamite, where he teamed up with Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Paul Wight to defeat Brian Cage, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Powerhouse Hobbs in a Street Fight.
