Road Dogg Takes Center Stage Again: A Fresh WWE Commentator Replacement Emerges
In a surprising turn of events, WWE fans were in for a unique commentary experience during tonight’s airing of Main Event on Peacock. Following Monday night’s revelation on WWE Raw that Michael Cole and Pat McAfee would become the official Raw commentary duo, there was yet another change for the Main Event team, which is recorded just before Raw each week.
This week, the Main Event commentary duties were handed over to Blake Howard and ‘Road Dogg’ Brian James, deviating from the usual pairs of Howard and Byron Saxton or Saxton and Wade Barrett. The absence of Barrett, who was replaced by Pat McAfee on Raw, and Saxton, who wasn’t seen in any backstage interviews on Raw, sparked speculation about the permanence of this Main Event commentary switch.
While there is no concrete confirmation regarding the longevity of this change, recent reports hint at the potential new permanent SmackDown commentary team, and they bring two familiar faces to the forefront. According to these reports, Corey Graves and Wade Barrett are slated to take the reins of the SmackDown commentary booth.
Interestingly, Corey Graves is expected to assume the lead announcer role, with Wade Barrett taking on the ‘color commentary’ position. This revelation coincides with a pre-announced appearance by Cody Rhodes on SmackDown, adding an extra layer of anticipation for fans who might witness the early stages of a WrestleMania 40 feud.
