Latest Update on AEW Star Cash Wheeler: Legal Proceedings Unfold

A new development has surfaced regarding Cash Wheeler, the AEW star and former tag team champion, following his arrest on August 23, 2023.

Real name Daniel Wheeler, he voluntarily surrendered to the authorities on Friday, August 18, after an incident on July 27 led to charges of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Described as a “road rage type incident,” Wheeler allegedly brandished a handgun at the purported victim, resulting in a warrant issued on July 28. He pleaded not guilty on August 3.

Upon surrendering, Wheeler’s bond was set at $2500, with conditions requiring him to surrender any weapons within 12 hours of release and have no contact with the victim, whom he does not know.

As per PW Insider’s report on February 1, the decision was taken to proceed with charges against Wheeler. Florida law stipulates that aggravated assault with a firearm carries penalties of up to five years in prison, five years’ probation, and a $5,000 fine.

A hearing is scheduled for February 20.

In response to last year’s arrest news, AEW stated they are aware of the charge and closely monitoring the situation, noting Wheeler’s full cooperation with authorities.
